A recent study conducted by scientists shared the revelation that 240 minutes of intense physical activity per week can improve fertility levels and enhance pregnancy chances for women with recurrent miscarriages. Researchers say physical activity in general also helps obese women in conceiving.

Studies show that there is no link between physical activity and a woman's chances of getting pregnant. Even exercising regularly does not increase fertility for some women as there can be many other factors.

However, according to a new study, walking may actually help women who have experienced one or more miscarriages.





Particularly, the researchers found that walking can help overweight women who are finding it difficult to conceive or keep a baby till term. Amy Beckley, the CEO of MFB Fertility Inc., affirmed to Healthline that there is an undeniable correlation between walking and better chances of conception in certain cases.

“Hormone imbalances due to situations such as obesity, overweight, PCOS or prediabetes may prevent a woman from getting pregnant and lead to recurrent miscarriages. This is because they hurt her overall fertility. Insulin signalling issues can cause abnormal responses from the ovaries to hormonal signals, leading to anovulation, low progesterone levels or other forms of infertility. This is especially prevalent in obese women and is a major contributor to early pregnancy losses.”

She emphasized that regular moderate exercise would be immensely beneficial for a group of women trying to conceive.

A recent research study found that women who exercise regularly for at least 4 hours per week have a greater chance of getting pregnant compared to those who are inactive. Therefore, physical activity can be beneficial when it comes to fertility.
