A man in his 40s found unconscious in a Cork housing estate has passed away.

The post-mortem will help the Gardaí narrow their investigations path, they may already have some leads, but we're not sure.

A man in his 40s has died after being found unconscious in the Mahon area of Cork City. The circumstances surrounding his death are unknown, but Gardaí has begun to investigate.

The scene has been preserved for a full examination and the local coroner, state pathologist and the officer investigating the case have been notified.





"Gardaí and emergency services were alerted shortly after 8.30 am after a man in his 40s was discovered unconscious in the Ballinsheen Court housing estate in Mahon," said a Garda spokesperson.

"He was treated at the scene by emergency services personnel before being removed to University Hospital Cork where he has since been pronounced dead."

Gardaí are appealing for people with video footage from the Ballinsheen Court area in the early hours this morning to make it available to them.
