Attack on an Irish diplomat in Sudan – Micheál Martin “deeply concerned”

Ambassador Aidan O'Hara of Ireland was recently attacked at his home while serving as the EU's Ambassador to Sudan.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Micheál Martin expressed his deep concern at the serious incident that occurred at the residence of Irish EU Ambassador to Sudan.
He expressed his sympathies for an "outstanding Irish diplomat".

This incident happended after a several days of clashes between the military and a powerful rival force, the situation is still volatile.
On Monday evening, senior EU diplomat Josep Borrell tweeted that the EU Ambassador had been assaulted in his own residency, noting that the incident "constitutes a gross violation of the Vienna Convention".
