An official with the Garda stated that they are looking into "all the circumstances" surrounding the discovery.

Due to the early-morning discovery of a body, Gardai have cordoned off a scene in Dungarvan.

Around 6.10 am, the body was discovered on Grattan Square, and the scene was being preserved.





According to a Garda spokesperson, "all the circumstances" surrounding the discovery are being looked at.

The postmortem is scheduled at Waterford University Hospital where the body was taken.

The following steps in the investigation will be based on the findings of the postmortem.

In Garda's statement: "Gardaí are investigating all circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body in Grattan Square, Dungarvan, Co Waterford at approximately 6:10 am today, Saturday, 20th of May 2023.

"The body was removed to Waterford University Hospital where a post-mortem is due to take place later, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation.

"The scene is currently preserved."
