Chelsea vs Aston Villa – An upset at Stamford Bridge.

Aston Villa secured a historic win at Chelsea for the first time in 9 years, with Ollie Watkins and John McGinn's goals leading the way.

Chelsea had an advantage in terms of possession and total shots at Stamford Bridge, launching 27 attempts while Aston Villa only managed 5.

Despite having only two attempts on target, Aston Villa managed to score from both and took home all three points at Stamford Bridge where they had lost in six out of seven previous visits.

With this win Aston Villa moved above Chelsea in the English Premier League standings.

Unai Emery's side now sit ninth, two places above the Blues in 11th.

Villa took the advantage in the 18th minute of the game when Watkins pounced on Koulibaly and Cucurella's lack of communication between them.

Koulibaly was on his way to easily take control of Douglas Luiz's long pass until Cucurella decided to challenge him with a headed clearance.

The ball deflected off the Spaniard's head and surprisingly fell into the path of Watkins who made a skilful lobbed finish over Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Unfortunately, Chelsea's hopes of equalizing were dashed when Ben Chilwell's header was disallowed for a foul. Aston Villa then increased their lead in the 56th minute thanks to Jacob Ramsey and John McGinn, who scored from 25 yards.

N'Golo Kante made a long-awaited return to the field, coming off the bench for Chelsea. Unfortunately, he failed to capitalize on a great opportunity to score a goal.

The end of the game was met with an overwhelming sound of boos and jeers.
