When the temperature reaches the 20s on Thursday, Met Eireann anticipates West Cork to be the warmest place in Ireland.

With temperatures in the high teens and sunshine, it definitely seems like summer in Cork. Parts of the country are seeing the sun again today after a fairly gloomy weekend, and Met Eireann has even more encouraging news for the coming week.

West Cork is expected to be the warmest location in Ireland when the temperature reaches the low twenties on Thursday, according to national forecasters, so Cork is going to be hot, hot, hot.

Weather experts expect extremely warm weather across the whole country, with some locations seeing temperatures as high as 22 degrees.

The most recent Met Eireann forecast predicts that the following towns will resemble Spain on Thursday:

  1. 22 degrees are expected in Bantry, Dunmanway, and Drimoleague.
  2. A wonderful 21 degrees is forecast for Inchigeelagh, Durrus, Bandon, Midleton, and Lisgoold.
  3. Temperatures of 20 degrees are predicted for Cork City, Ballincollig, Passage West, Killeagh, and Ballyvourney.

The entire county is in for some wonderful weather with temperatures at least in the high teens as a high-pressure system sets over the nation, even though certain areas of North Cork and along the coast may not see the big 20 mark on Thursday.

Aside from Thursday's heat wave, this week is summer all the way around as we get to enjoy some well-earned dry spells and a lot of sunshine.

With temperatures expected to reach as high as 18 degrees on Tuesday, another 19-degree day on Wednesday, and plenty of BBQ weather to last through the weekend as temperatures return to the 20s on Saturday as well, the outlook is looking nice.
