Garda in Newbridge, Co. Kildare, arrested a guy and recovered drugs worth more than €102,000; however, two individuals escaped after an incident in the town.

At around 10.30 p.m., garda in Newbridge, Co. Kildare, attempted to pull over a car when the driver ploughed into the patrol car.

One male passenger in the back seat was apprehended by Garda while the male driver and front passenger escaped the scene on foot. The crash did not result in any injuries.





The man, who is in his late 20s, was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act of 1984 after being arrested and brought to a garda station in Kildare.

When the car was examined by the garda, they found a number of drugs with an estimated street value of €25,590, including cocaine, ecstasy, and MDMA, as well as €2,000 in cash.

A quantity of cocaine and marijuana with an estimated street value of €77,000 was found during a follow-up search that took place early on Saturday morning at a residential block in Newbridge. Four sports cars, numerous costly watches, and designer clothing were also seized.

As part of Operation Tara, the drugs were seized.

Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) will receive all the narcotics that have been seized for analysis.

Garda search teams continue to look for the remaining two males as investigations are ongoing.
