Fatal incident in East Cork incident, Gardai appeal for witnesses

Man(50s) died at the scene after being hit by a car in the early morning hours. Gardai are investigating this fatal accident on the N25 outside of Midleton.

Between Ballyedekin and Castlemartyr at around 4.10 am, an articulated vehicle and a pedestrian were involved in a deadly collision.

The man's corpse has been taken from the site and transported to Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem will be performed. There were no other recorded injuries.





Since early this morning, a part of the road has been closed, and it is anticipated that it will stay closed while Gardai perform a technical inspection.

Local detours between Ballyedekin and Castlemartyr are still in effect, and Gardai are still on the scene.

Midleton Gardai are making an appeal to anyone who may have seen the event.

Road users travelling on the N25 in the vicinity of Loughaderra between 3.45 am and 4.15 am who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, are requested to contact the Midleton Garda Station at 021 462 1550, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
