France sealed a 1-0 victory against the Republic of Ireland in the Euro 2024 qualifier

France sealed a 1-0 victory against the Republic of Ireland in the Euro 2024 qualifier

Benjamin Pavard secured France's victory over the Republic of Ireland with a single goal in the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, resulting in an unimpressive game.

Despite their impressive defensive efforts, Stephen Kenny's team were unable to stop France from capitalizing on their lone defensive error shortly after the break in their Euro 2024 qualifier.

By half-time, there had been no attempts on goal from either team. However, in the 49th minute Ireland midfielder, Josh Cullen made a risky decision in his own half to keep the game alive.

Pavard capitalized on the turnover in possession, striking a powerful shot that struck the crossbar before sailing beyond the reach of goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu and into the back of the net.

Despite initial setbacks, the home team managed to remain optimistic and motivated.

Mike Maignan made two impressive saves in quick succession to keep France's lead intact.

Sergio Ramos showed his quick reflexes when he diverted Jules Kounde's headed clearance off a corner with his fingertips. He then topped that by denying Nathan Collins with an excellent save in close range.

Ireland will face off against Greece on June 12th and Gibraltar on June 19th, in their quest to collect points in Group B of the qualifying stages.

Kenny's team has an excellent performance record, which leads them to be optimistic about the possibility of getting second place in what appears to be a close race with the Netherlands.
