Man (20s) arrested in possession of ‘imitation firearm’ on a train

Man(20s) was arrested after he was discovered to be in possession of what seemed to be an imitation gun yesterday evening on a train going from Cork to Dublin.

At around 6.50 p.m., a guy was seen on the train in Co. Tipperary carrying a gun, alerting the garda who then responded to the scene.

Regional Armed Support Unit reached the location and provided assistance to local uniform and plainclothes garda.

When the individual was searched, police discovered what they "believe to be an imitation firearm" in his possession. It will now go through a technical inspection.

The individual, who is in his 20s, was detained at a Garda Station in Tipperary under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act of 1939 after being arrested there.

The matter is still under investigation, according to a Garda spokesperson.
