According to an Irish water safety spokesperson, the two lifeguards who were rushed to the hospital following a lightning strike in Co. Kerry did not sustain any injuries.

Just before 4 o'clock, lightning struck Banna Beach.

At 1:30 pm on Saturday, Met Eireann issued a yellow weather advisory for Kerry and the other counties, but the lifeguards were still working to remove swimmers from the lake when the strike occurred.

Flooding has affected the University Hospital in Kerry, which reported that some parts had been shut down and that patients should only visit the facility in an emergency.
