71-year-old man, killed in an incident on a farm in Co. Cork

Joseph Shorten, from Castletownkenneigh and Enniskeane, tragically died on Friday in a farm accident involving a bull. It is believed that he was attacked by a bull when he went to open a gate. He was crushed with fatal injuries in the incident.

Garda spokesperson confirmed that they were alerted of the incident.

Joseph Shorten was declared dead at the scene. He is survived by his wife, Joan; sister, Mary; and brothers, Ben and Robert.





His body was transferred to Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

On Monday evening at 7:30 PM, Mr Shorten's removal will occur from O'Mahonys Funeral Home in Enniskeane to St Bartholomew's Church in Kenneigh. The burial will take place at Killowen Cemetery on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

The Gardaí confirmed that they had been notified of the death and alerted the Health and Safety Authority as well.

An Inspector was then dispatched to investigate the scene. Garda investigation is going.
