Man arrested in bogus tradesmen probe during an inquiry handed over ‘substantial sum of cash’

A man in his 50s was arrested by Gardaí earlier today, in connection with an ongoing investigation into the operations of accused bogus tradesmen.

An investigation was launched after a man in his 70s allegedly paid bogus tradespeople a sizeable sum of money for roofing repairs on a home in the south Dublin region.

The Criminal Justice Act of 2007's Section 50 was used to place the apprehended man in custody in a garda station in County Dublin.

He was subsequently freed from garda detention, and the Director of Public Prosecutions will now receive a file.

More updates will be provided while the investigation is still ongoing, the Garda said.
