Sixth Irish road death this week as young man killed after being struck by bus

A man died after being hit by a bus in Dublin's city centre.

Gardai were called to the scene of the incident, which occurred at the intersection of Amiens Street and Store Street about 11.30 p.m. Friday night. The pedestrian, male(20s), was killed in the crash.

He was pronounced dead at the spot, and his corpse was sent to the City Mortuary in Whitehall. There are now a number of road closures in effect at the intersections of Amiens Street/Store Street and Beresford effect/Amiens Street.

"The scene of the incident is currently being preserved for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators," a garda spokeswoman said. Gardai are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them.

"Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were in the Amiens Street/Store Street area last night between 11:15pm and 11.45pm are asked to provide it to Garda."

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Store Street Garda Station at 01 666 8000, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111 or any Garda station."
