Man(40s) arrested after Indian woman’s body discovered in Wilton, Cork

The body of an Indian woman Deepa Dinamani was found at a property in Wilton Cork. Man(40s) was arrested at the scene.

Deepa apparently suffered a suspected stab wound. This has shocked the neighbourhood.

The 38-year-old woman is of Indian descent and had recently moved to Cork, Ireland.





It was shocking to learn of the death of a mother of one in such brutal circumstances, according to an Indian woman who lives next to the red brick semi-detached home where the woman died.

According to the woman, members of the Indian community in Cork intend to support the bereaved together along with officials from their embassy and other members of the locality. She assured them that every attempt would be made to help the surviving family members with practical issues like returning the body to India.

Garda arrived at the scene at Cardinal Court in Wilton, Cork, on Friday, July 14, at around 10.10 p.m.

The woman in her late 30s was confirmed deceased at the scene after suffering a suspected stab wound.

Garda and emergency services arrived quickly. She was declared dead.

The preserved body was removed at 10.40 am, and a postmortem examination will follow at Cork University Hospital.

An Indian man in his early 40s in relation to the woman was taken into custody.

Garda Investigation is ongoing.
