Matthew Moore, a teenager from Cork City and Ireland's U-17 international, is completing his transfer to Bundesliga club Hoffenheim.

The German club has signed the much-celebrated 16-year-old midfielder, with a reported deal in place. The Leesiders are said to have been given a five-figure sum plus some clauses as compensation.

Moore is part of the Ireland national football team that has qualified for the European Championships in Hungary in May.





Last year, he captained the Irish U-16 team to winning the Victory Shield and was praised by Cork City manager Colin Healy for his potential. Despite this, he will still be able to pursue his football dreams in Germany as Brexit regulations currently prevent any players aged 17 and below from moving to the UK.

The Irish colony in Italy has been steadily increasing, with AC Milan signing Cork City's Cathal Heffernan. Furthermore, Franco Umeh and Mark O'Mahony moved to Crystal Palace and Brighton respectively when they turned 18 in January.

Moore has decided to move to mainland Europe and explore the possibilities there
