Met Éireann reported March 2023 as the wettest March on record in Ireland

Met Éireann has reported March 2023 as the wettest March in Irish history. Last month, an average of 173.3mm of rainfall across Ireland – which is 169% more than the 1981-2010 long-term average.

Met Éireann data shows that 2019 had the wettest March of the past 83 years.

This year's February was the fourth driest on record.

According to the UK Met Office, Northern Ireland experienced its third-wettest March in history with an average of 151.2mm of rainfall - 74% higher than the long-term average.
