Ireland has made history by obtaining 14 Oscar nominations, including nine from The Banshees of Inisherin. If you don't want to miss out on Sunday's ceremony, here's how you can witness all of the excitement on Irish TV.

This Sunday is the biggest night for Hollywood - the Oscars. A number of Irish actors, directors and production staff are travelling to Los Angeles for the awards ceremony, hoping to come out on top.

Ireland has achieved a remarkable feat of obtaining 14 nominations, with The Banshees of Inisherin notably receiving nine.

The movie 'The Killing of a Sacred Deer' earned four of its cast members their first Academy Award nominations - Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon and Barry Keoghan.

Not just Michael Farrell but Paul Mescal is also up for the best actor accolade, as a result of his performance in Aftersun.

Martin McDonagh's The Banshees of Inisherin has earned him a nomination for best director and best original screenplay at the Oscars. Additionally, it is also among the bookies' favourites in the category of Best Picture.

A fantastic achievement for the Irish movie industry, Cailín Ciúin has been nominated for the best international feature film – making it the first ever Irish language movie to receive such recognition.

As the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences prepares to host its ceremony in Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles on March 12th, all those in attendance will hope for a stroke of luck. US-renowned talk show host Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting the event.

Following the spectacle of last year's Academy Awards Ceremony, where actor Will Smith got into a scuffle with host Chris Rock, many people in Ireland will be tuning in to see what happens this time around.

If you want to catch the action in real time, here's how you can tune in and watch all of the drama on Irish TV.

How to watch the Oscars in Ireland?

US viewers can watch the Academy Awards on ABC, while Ireland citizens can tune in to Sky Cinema Oscars for the ceremony. Sky Cinema and NOW TV will offer the show from 1 am, March 12th.

If you don't want to stay up late, you can still get the best of Oscars 2023 – tune in to RTE 2 at 9.30 pm on Monday, March 13 as they'll be airing a highlight reel of the awards ceremony!
