Pedestrian died after being involved in a collision in West Cork

Tragically, a pedestrian man (70s) died of his injuries at Cork University Hospital after being involved in an accident.

At 8.30 AM on 13th April 2023, a fatal accident occurred on Main Street, Union Hall resulting in the death of a pedestrian. The man was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment before passing away.

Gardaí closed the road for Forensic Collision Investigations which was later reopened.





Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information regarding the collision to come forward. The road was later reopened.

A spokesperson provided a statement: “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision involving a van and a pedestrian that occurred on Main Street, Union Hall, Co. Cork, at approximately 8:30 AM this morning, Thursday, April 13th, 2023.”

“The male pedestrian in his 70s was taken to Cork University Hospital to be treated for his injuries, where he later passed away.”

“The road was closed for a period to allow Forensic Collision Investigators to conduct a technical examination. It has since been reopened.”

“Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in this area between at the time of the collision, are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.”
