Benzema tapped in early and Asensio curled in late to give Real Madrid a 2-0 lead at home, in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Quarterfinals fixture.

Madrid punished Chelsea's early mistake with a counter-attack that ended with Benzema scoring. Los Blancos threatened late in the first half when they had several chances to score more goals, with Vinicius who caused trouble for Chelsea defenders.

Ben Chillwell's red card in the 2nd half gave Madrid an advantage. They were able to capitalize on the opportunity and end up scoring another goal through Marco Asensio's curling outside-of-the-box shot.

Madrid will feel they could have had more. But a 2-0 lead after the first leg is not something they would be disappointed about.

Frank Lampard, Chelsea’s manager, has some real problems to address ahead of the second leg played next week on 18th April.
