Recycle your Christmas tree in Cork or have it collected for €20

Recycle your Christmas tree in Cork or have it collected for €20

If you're too lazy to strap it to the roof and drop it off, there's a Leeside company that will do it for you.

The Christmas tree has been up for weeks and it is now time to say goodbye. If you have a live tree, you will need to find it a new home. When it comes to fake trees, they will just be getting packed up in the shed or back in the attic.

The city council in Cork has provided a reminder for Leesiders to put their trees in the proper place. They suggest a sustainable manner for the disposal of the trees and "not just drag them to the end of the road and chuck them over a hedge"

All civic amenity sites across the city will accept trees - which will be recycled for use in parks and other amenities this year

For those living in Cork, there are a number of service providers who will collect and recycle trees for you. These include Cork Christmas Trees and Mahon-based will collect trees left outside homes for €20

They offer a range of options for people buying Christmas trees who want to recycle them after. The 5th-8th and the 12th-14th is the time period, with customers choosing whether they want to mulch, compost or something else. Trees will be recycled and used for other purposes. Don't have time to clean your car? They help you with a professional auto detailing service.

Our Cork Christmas Tree Collection service is between the 5th – 8th of January and the 12th – 14th of January.

As part of their Green Christmas campaign, Cork City Council has also reminded Cork households to dispose of packaging and other waste responsibly.

“Over Christmas, waste production peaks. The typical household generates about a third more waste than the rest of the year. This is due to a large amount of packaging used for delivery of online shopping as well as the wrapping that we use. Remember to keep all packaging, cardboard, and cans clean, dry and loose and place them in your recycling bin,”  the Council suggests.
