Last week, Gardai in Cork made at least 4 arrests of people involved with car thefts.

Gardaí in Cork arrested and charged two men for their roles in a string of high-end vehicle thefts across the country.

Two men were arrested in the small village of Conna, Co. Cork, after an attempted theft of a luxury car from this area.

Gardaí were called to the scene and arrested both men. The older one (40s) will appear in court this evening for Mallow, while the younger one(20s) is scheduled to be heard in court on Friday for Fermoy.

Last week Gardaí had arrested two other men in Ballyhea on suspicion of being involved in a series of car thefts in the locality. Gardai suspect they might be a part of a wider gang known for stealing cars with a ‘very sophisticated methodology’.

Garda spokesperson said “Gardaí in Cork have arrested and charged two men as part of an investigation into the theft of multiple high-value vehicles across the country. On Wednesday 5th April 2023, Gardaí arrested two males in Conna, County Cork, following the attempted theft of a high-value vehicle in the area.

Two suspects were detained at Garda Stations in Cork, under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006.

The man in his 20s was remanded in custody and will appear at the Fermoy District Court on Friday, April 14th of 2023. Other man in his 40s has also been charged and is expected to appear before a special sitting of Mallow District Court at 5 pm on Monday 10th April 2023.”
