Arsenal threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 against West Ham in a Premier League fixture as Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard scored within 10 minutes. Said Benrahma then scored a penalty before Bukayo Saka missed from the spot. Jarrod Bowen eventually equalised in the second half of the game.

This could be a major setback for Arsenal's title race.

Arsenal had a fantastic start as Gabriel Jesus & Martin Odegaard scored within 10 minutes of the game. However, much similar to their defeat at Anfield last week, the team could not maintain this lead.

Right before halftime, Said Benrahma scored a penalty goal due to Gabriel fouling Lucas Paqueta. After the break, Arsenal was awarded a penalty for Michail Antonio's handball but unfortunately, Bukayo Saka failed to score from it.

West Ham's equalising goal from Jarrod Bowen in the two minutes afterwards cost Arsenal dearly. Antonio missed a goal-scoring opportunity as the header hit the bar in the last 10 minutes.

Arteta acknowledged that West Ham's plan after scoring their first goal was out of his team's control. He pointed out that conceding two or three goals when away from home makes it very hard to win the match. He also said they should take responsibility for how they failed to defend in their penalty areas.

Arsenal has a four-point lead over Manchester City, who they have played one more game. If Arsenal beat Southampton on Friday Night Football, that gap can grow to seven points due to City's FA Cup semi-final the following weekend.

Arsenal's next match is against Pep Guardiola's side at the Etihad Stadium and it will be a defining game in the title race.
