Woman(60s) died in Dundalk, Garda investigation in process.

The death of a woman in her 60s who was fatally assaulted in Dundalk, County Louth, is being investigated as murder.

Her body was discovered on Wednesday evening at a residence on Bridge Street in the town.

Yesterday, a post-mortem investigation was finished. For operational reasons, the findings are not being made public.

The Bridge Street site has been cordoned off as part of an ongoing murder investigation.

In Dundalk Garda Station, an incident room has been established, along with the appointment of a senior investigating officer.

Additionally, a family liaison officer has been hired.

The scene was examined for evidence previously by members of the Garda Technical Bureau for several hours.

Garda also canvassed the neighbourhood near the property where the discovery was made, knocking on doors to inquire.
